Recent Progress (2026)
From March through June 2026, Groundwork USA demonstrated the power of youth-led environmental stewardship while scaling community-driven climate solutions. The organization mobilized over 50 young people for conservation work across national parks from Yellowstone to Grand Teton, celebrating 15 years of youth engagement at Yellowstone alone. Simultaneously, their network implemented tangible climate resilience projects, establishing five microforests in dense urban neighborhoods and transforming neglected sites like an Acushnet River brownfield into waterfront green space. The Climate Safe Neighborhoods program empowered residents in Cincinnati to become more informed and confident climate advocates, while partnerships with 20+ grassroots organizations in New Orleans delivered community-centered greening solutions. This period showcased Groundwork's dual approach of developing the next generation of environmental leaders while creating immediate, measurable impact in underserved communities.
