READING IS FUNDAMENTAL WORKS TO DISRUPT THE ALARMING U.S. LITERACY CRISIS BY INSPIRING THE JOY OF READING IN CHILDREN, A CRITICAL ELEMENT TO DRIVING THE FREQUENCY, MOTIVATION, AND ENGAGEMENT NEEDED TO CREATE SKILLED READERS. From March through June 2026, Reading Is Fundamental anchored its programming around a landmark 60th anniversary — a milestone that gave shape and momentum to an already ambitious period. March's National Reading Month brought the 5th annual Rally to Read, a Capitol Hill advocacy reception, and the Skybrary app's offer of 100 free books to every child in America. April expanded Skybrary's international footprint to five countries and launched a NASA Artemis reading partnership. May saw the debut of Camp RIF for summer 2026 and a celebrated appearance at Memphis's Bookstock festival. By June, RIF had deployed a full summer literacy offensive — including 1,000+ student book distributions and multiple award recognitions for Skybrary — all grounded in a 60-year legacy of reaching 237 million children.
