Recent Progress (2026)

From March through June 2026, Heifer International's work centered on elevating women farmers as the primary drivers of food system transformation. March was the most data-rich period: the Meliteji WASU Project in the Sahel reported 15,761 jobs created or improved โ€” 67% held by young women โ€” while the Tanzania TI3p dairy program convened farmer organizations and processors to expand market access for up to 88,000 smallholder farmers. The global campaign "She Has a Story to Tell" launched in Asia, and the Houses of Heifer engagement initiative went live. April spotlighted the AYuTe Africa Challenge, with one Ethiopian innovator's biofertilizer startup reaching 56,000+ farmers and delivering 15โ€“30% yield gains. May had no reportable activity. June returned focus to collective action by women farmers in Bangladesh, Nepal, and Mexico.
