From March through June 2026, Clean Air Task Force sustained a high-output quarter of research, policy advocacy, and field work across four continents. The period opened with the launch of the Nuclear Scaling Initiative's Reactor Selection Tool — enabling comparison of 35 reactor designs — and Washington State's passage of SB 6355 for electric transmission, a grid milestone CATF helped advance. Geothermal energy emerged as a dominant theme: CATF championed bipartisan superhot rock legislation in the U.S. Senate, co-convened the 2nd Superhot Rock Geothermal Summit with the Bezos Earth Fund, and published modeling showing California could save up to $44 billion annually in electricity costs through next-generation geothermal investment. Methane enforcement work intensified, with field inspections of roughly 60 facilities in southern France revealing two-thirds were releasing methane, and CATF's Fossil Fuel Regulatory Programme expanding to Egypt, Brazil, and Bosnia and Herzegovina — bringing tailored support to up to 20 developing-country governments. The CEE Fellowship launched its 2026 cohort of 14 fellows from 10 countries, and CATF's experts presented methane solutions to HM King Charles at St James's Palace during London Climate Action Week.
